Why I prefer Wordpress as my blogging platform? The answer is quite simple, its all because Wordpress had it own free theme and supported with great plug-in that other blog platform don’t have. Because of that I prefer Wordpress than other. Other question for you, if you looking for Wordpress theme for your blog, what factor determine you to choose the Wordpress theme.

To design a good looking blog, you need a good theme that you can easily tweak, manage and remove the function that you don’t want to appear. I believe good looking blog also determine the blog success, not just the content. Below I list up what you need to look before choose any Wordpress theme to use.

Cross Browser compatibility: With all new browsers keep on coming, it’s absolutely essential that your WordPress theme should support all popular browsers. Make sure your blog’s design look well in all major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and other. Some of the Wordpress theme don’t support cross browser compatibility and only work well in certain browser. Before this I got some problem with my theme in IE - the sidebar dropdown sickness.

Widget Compatibility: Widget ready Wordpress theme can help us a lot because not all of us know how to edit all the non-widget theme code just to make it widget ready. Believe me a good wigetize theme can help you much in your Wordpress usability. You can add any thing you want and remove it later. Actually this widget compatibility are the problem to me, since the theme I use here are non-widget ready

Unwanted ads: Some of the free Wordpress theme are built in ads, actually its a unwanted ads. If you find the theme had all the unwanted ads you can remove it or replace it with your own ads. To many unwanted ads can make your site loading time slower. A clean theme had more chance to turn visitor to your readers.

Theme layout: Wordpress theme come out with different layout that is a single column theme, two column theme, three column and four column theme. The theme layout depend on your blogging needs, which layout you choose are based on your need, what you want to include in the blog and what is the best for you. I love a three column Wordpress theme that can easily display my advertising and money making program that I join. Look at my theme layout.

SEO Optimized: I don’t want to talk much about this because I’m not SEO expert. But a good SEO friendly WordPress theme should have excellent search engine readability that can help you in search engine rank.

Additional features: Some themes have great features built in, like the displaying of related post and admin link in the sidebar. Other theme also had additional feature such as rotate header, rotate banner or automatic Feedburner subscription button. Such features can help us much. If you’re new blogger, you may need themes that allow you to change the color of your theme or fonts easily via a preferences page rather than manually editing the code.

What do you think? I come out with all this list because I don’t like to change my Wordpress theme to often. Changing to often Wordpress theme can hurt you later.
